City of Memory

City of Memory is a narrative map of New York City that is currently being created as a web application by Local Projects and CityLore. I helped out by creating a proposal of a physical installation for the multimedia version. The installation involves a space with the map of New York laid out on the floor. This map is embedded with hotspots. A system of viewing devices can be rolled over the map and on rolling over any of the hotspots, trigger a story about that particular area of the city. The viewers are encouraged to input their stories into the device to add to the existing stories about the city.
