I have been working with the Advanced Media Studio providing Rapid Prototyping and Laser cutting services to the NYU fine arts community. Mainly, the position entailed lasercutting and rapid prototyping to help with the art projects for the students and faculty in NYU. Other things involved developing a system to distribute the services evenly amongst the depts in the NYU community and to keep a check on the number of jobs coming in. It also involved creating templates of materials of different thicknesses, densities and varieties to create a library of all the materials which can be cut and etched for the clients. We also developed laser settings for plexiglass, linoleum and wax plates to print on paper.
